In a shocking twist worthy of any political thriller, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly turned an icy shoulder towards his longtime confidant Prince Dapo Eludoyin. Insiders speculate that this cold reception stems from the cascading troubles engulfing embattled NNPC Group Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ojulari.
Ojulari has found himself under fire, starting with his controversial retreat in Kigali, which insiders say was as ill-advised as it was untimely. The stakes rose even higher with recent allegations that he facilitated free travel for opposition leaders, allegedly using NNPC aviation contracts to curry favor or perhaps undercut President Tinubu’s stronghold.
Adding fuel to the fire, it is rumored that the President’s discontent stems from the fact that it was Prince Eludoyin who championed Ojulari’s nomination as GCEO. Sources suggest that Eludoyin failed to conduct adequate vetting, which would have revealed Ojulari’s questionable ties to Bashir Abdulahi Haske, a businessman currently entangled in legal woes, including allegations of fraud and corruption.
As the drama unfolds, the corridors of power in Abuja buzz with speculation. Is Prince Eludoyin out of favor for good, or is this a mere strategic distancing by a President known for his adept political maneuvers? Only time will tell how this high-profile saga will resolve, but one thing is certain: the political climate at the top echelons of Nigerian governance has never been colder.
